From Chicago to SoCal

Updated: May 2, 2023

Marie and Matt reached out right at the beginning of their planning. Both from Chicago with a destination wedding in sunny SoCal at the ocean front venue of Ole Hanson. One of socals most beautiful venues with direct access to the beach. This was the perfect location for them to celebrate their love with all of their family and friends.

The venue is gorgeous with the ocean as our backdrop not much decor was needed but Marie & Matt have champagne & caviar taste. So we had to plan the most boho and elegant wedding.

We did multiple calls, texts, emails, dm's to design and style the perfect beach wedding.

I want to say we successfully pulled it off!

Their main focuses were to create an experience for their guests. So we put more of the budget towards booking vendors that would bring that. We booked a violinist for the ceremony and cocktail hour. They also opted for an audiobook over a guestbook. We went all out on a dessert table and booked a boba bar as a late night snack. Along with having a photobooth and LED glow sticks for the dancing.

Now onto the overall styling of the wedding.

Unfortunately, florals were not at the top priority of the lists because so much of the budget was put into everything else. BUT everything was still cohesive and the florals were beautiful.

The original centerpiece idea was to have one large floral centerpiece with candles around but we ended with an eclectic array of bud vases, pillar candles, and a variety of tea lights.

We focused heavily on the dinnerware. Marie & Matt decided to upgrade and add a jute charger plate, with gold silverware. The table numbers were custom made to match the aesthetics. And they also upgraded their sweetheart table to add these giant and bold white peacock chairs.

We also added a mauve menu to tie everything in and kept a simple white napkin to bring some brightness and contrast.

Another important part of their wedding was to incorporate traditional cultural and religious rituals into their ceremony by adding the candle, cord, coins and veil and having sponsors assists with these traditions. The ceremony was a modern twist to an old tradition.

Overall, I want to say these two love birds had the time of their life. This was by far one of the most beautiful weddings I've had the pleasure to work. Everything ran to perfection. The vendors worked so amazingly well together and the day was just smooth! But most importantly, Marie and Matt you both are the sweetest and loveliest humans ever. Your kindness and all the sweet words about how incredible everything was at the end of the night will forever stay with me.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your most special day.
